I assess every new canine client before beginning bodywork so I can understand your dog's background, medical history, movement and goals and create an individualized bodywork plan. This helps me provide bodywork that is thoughtful, appropriate and specific to the dog in front of me. From there, bodywork is offered in 5- and 10-session series to support continuity in your dog's wellness routine.
Initial Bodywork Assessment
Thoughtful bodywork starts with understanding your dog.
$150 · Approximately 60–90 minutes
Before we meet, you'll complete a detailed intake form covering your dog's history, lifestyle, current concerns and wellness goals. I'll review it before our appointment so our time together can stay focused on your dog.
During the in-home assessment, I'll observe movement and gait and perform a gentle hands-on palpation to better understand muscular and fascial tension, sensitivity and individual movement patterns.
YOUR DOG'S BODYWORK PLAN
A written, individualized plan documenting my observations, suggested cadence and recommended modalities. You are welcome to share it with your dog's care team — including your veterinarian, chiropractor or acupuncturist.
Consistency is important for best results.
Appointments are typically 45–60 minutes, including setup and time to discuss what I observed during the session. The hands-on bodywork itself is always adapted to your dog’s needs and comfort on the day. I document each session and am happy to provide those notes for you to share with your dog’s care team if you wish.

How do I start?
Visit the Contact page for my email, text and phone details. The information you share does not have to be perfect or detailed — just tell me a little about your dog and what brings you here. I’m also happy to speak with you by phone, answer your questions and talk through whether bodywork may be a good fit.
How do I need to prepare for a session?
Before we begin, I'll send you the intake questionnaire along with simple information to help your dog arrive comfortable and ready for bodywork — including guidance on when your dog should last eat and exercise before the appointment.
Does every new dog need an assessment?
Yes. I assess every new canine client so I can understand your dog as fully as possible and provide the best, most individualized bodywork I can. It is also an important part of keeping sessions safe, particularly when a dog has an injury, medical condition or is receiving other care.
My dog is older and a full session might be too long. Do you offer special packages for senior dogs?
Yes. Senior dogs often benefit from shorter sessions — sometimes around 15–20 minutes or even less — with gentle touch and energy work. I will work with you to determine the length and cadence that best suits your dog and can offer an individualized package around those needs.
Where are sessions offered?
The Modernist Dog is a mobile service within Palm Springs. I come to your home so your dog can receive bodywork in a familiar environment where they can feel comfortable and at ease. If you live outside of Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley, I am happy to come to you for an additional fuel surcharge.
Can I book a single bodywork session?
Bodywork is offered in 5- and 10-session packages rather than as individual appointments. Consistency helps support continuity and the best results from your dog's bodywork routine.
Do the packages expire?
No. Your package does not expire. I do recommend using the sessions consistently to maintain good results and continuity from your dog's bodywork.
Can I share the $100 gift card?
Yes. The $100 service gift card included with the 10-session package can be applied toward a future purchase or given to a friend. A new canine client will still begin with an Initial Bodywork Assessment.
